Agriculture at TAFE

We visit Richmond TAFE in Western Sydney to speak to the teachers about their Agriculture course. We chat to Kay Carter, the head teacher of Agriculture. She explains what's involved in the course. She shows us through some old equipment of the agricultural sector, and shares the modern, sustainable machinery used in Agriculture today.

Michael Cross, Machinery and Maintenance Teacher, shows us some of the modern equipment used by the TAFE. He also shares what's taught with maintenance of these vehicles. He shows what each of the vehicles do with the soil.

Kay shows us the organic farm the students are working on.

She shares the flexibility of the course, part time, full time, or in the evening.

About the course:

This course is for people in the rural industry with some expertise who want to develop advanced technical and husbandry skills. It also provides the underpinning knowledge required to apply these skills in the workplace. You will learn how to organise and coordinate the procedures that employees in the rural industries must carry out as well as learning technical skills that a senior employee on a rural enterprise should possess.

You will also be able to apply occupational health, safe working practices and quality assurance practices to industry standards. This course is also suitable for owners of rural operations who want to enhance their technical knowledge and skills. It is also suitable for people with some expertise who want to enter the rural industry.
