Jonté Pike - Fashion Student Extraordinaire
In 2001 Jonté Pike's family immigrated to Australia from South Africa. Motivated, focused and talented Jonté has always wanted to be a successful fashion designer. In pursuit of her dream she enrolled in an Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology in 2008.
Despite her youth, Jonté has achieved an enormous amount of success and recognition in the competitive world of fashion. Her ethnic influenced designs have been featured in a range of publications and catwalk shows. Jonté believes her success is in large part due to her vocational education and training course provided by Polytechnic West.
She has also had the opportunity to meet several Australian fashion industry icons and showcase her label Jonté at the Perth Fashion Festival, Melbourne Fashion Aid and in Japan.
Besides developing her own label, she hopes to show her designs at Sydney Fashion Week within the next two years and become ambassador for the West Australian fashion industry. Jonté also intends to complete her Associate Degree in Fashion and immerse herself in the commercial market.
"The Australian Training Awards are a confidence builder and it validated all the hard work I did over the years" says the upcoming designer.
