HTN and R&C NSW apprentice chefs culinary competition 2009

Hospitality Training Network (HTN) and Restaurant & Catering NSW (R&C NSW) coordinate Australia's largest competition series annually for future chefs. The well publicised skills shortage in the commercial cookery sector highlights the need to promote the career of a professional chef and HTN in concert with R&C NSW actively pursue applicants to meet their demand average of 100 cooking apprenticeship vacancies listed all year round.

The competition provides an ideal opportunity for cooking apprentices and trainees to engage in structured skill development, further enhance their unmistakable passion for the culinary art and celebrate the excellence of cookery as a career without limits. It also provides an opportunity for apprentices and trainees to network, form long lasting friendships with other like minded young people and to display their individual culinary talent.

HTN and R&C NSW will coordinate the 2009 competition series which will encompass fourteen (14) regional heats coordinated throughout NSW and ACT - thus providing the industry with the largest and most exciting commercial cookery competition in the country. (340 Apprentices and Trainees competed in 2008.)

The next regional heat is scheduled for 8:00am, Thursday 7th May 2009 at TAFE NSW Illawarra Institute, Bega Campus (Barrack Street, Bega NSW 2250)

R&C NSW is the peak industry association covering the hospitality industry and is a non-profit employer Association that serves and represents over 2300 members of the restaurant and catering industry throughout NSW and ACT.
