SkillsOne Launches National Skills Week 2026: Australia's Biggest Skills Celebration Returns for Its 16th Year
24–30 August 2026 | Nationwide
SkillsOne has today announced National Skills Week 2026, scheduled for 24–30 August, marking the 16th consecutive year of Australia's flagship movement dedicated to raising the profile of skills-based careers and vocational education and training (VET).
Now in its sixteenth year, National Skills Week will once again set out to bring to life the positive messages, highlighting the talents, the skills, the career pathways and the value of apprentices and trainees across Australia to the wider public and employers. The week is dedicated to raising the status of skills and vocational learning.
A National Movement With Proven Impact
Past years have achieved much, with unparalleled media coverage accompanied by the practical inclusions of over 500 known events taking place across the country, delivering engaging and inspirational messages and promoting the VET sector generally. National Skills Week has grown into one of Australia's most recognised advocacy campaigns, reaching millions of Australians through broadcast media, digital platforms, and live events.
"National Skills Week exists to change perceptions," said Jo Patterson, National Skills Week Coordinator. "Every year we see the incredible impact that comes from communities, schools, employers, and training providers coming together to celebrate skills. In 2026, we want to make this the biggest year yet."
How to Get Involved
National Skills Week 2026 welcomes participation from schools, training organisations, industry and employers, and supporters of VET across all sectors. Each year, a new theme is announced to guide activities and messaging, with resources available to help organisations plan and promote their events.
Participation options include hosting open days and career expos, organising workplace visits and work experience placements, sharing apprentice and trainee success stories through social media, and registering events on the National Skills Week events map.
